Marike Stokker, born in Sneek, (1950) was educated at the Graphic Design Department of the College of Art in Groningen (Minerva). Later on she went to the College of Art in Utrecht and specialized in Painting and Art History.
Since 1984 she works as a full time artist, has exhibitions in Holland and Belgium; she also made commissioned art for various companies.

It was in 2000 that she became interested and subsequently fascinated by the new technoligy and possibilities which the Internet provides and she participated in a number of courses aimed at obtaining the skills she needed to apply her artistic principles to web-design.
At the moment (2010) she takes care of all printables and websites of the Milieucentrum in Utrecht. The new website for the Milieucentrum is still in progress...

She worked as a Web Interface Editor for an IT company that went out of business February 2003. She made web interfaces and took care of the graphic design, which not only featured on the web, but also applied for company printing purposes. She worked with a team of programmers who did the technical details, concerned with the actual realization of the sites.
The rest of the time she worked (and still does) as a freelancer, building and designing websites, making illustrations and coverdesigns, and working in her studio as a fine arts painter.
She also teaches (part-time) at the College of Art in Utrecht.
